New spine again, lots of forwards injured ( don’t thing King V fully fit), and remember we lost 5 international players and didn’t have the funds to properly replace them this season…its a sticking plaster season and no funds again
I think the coaching staff and the team have done amazingly well to sit in sixth position. Its the time Rowley Blease and the boys have to start rebuilding for next season, but of course Rowley’s attitude is that we can win every match
Yesterday was an old grinding down day….play tight tough structured in the first half and they’d tire…the way Wigan play…and not pretty but it worked and 2 points
Think I’d try Hankinson at 6…he’s played there before and has power and penetration. Atkins not gelling in a structured role.
Dixon….just 4 more points and you’re happy😉

Some good points made, whilst I was pleased to see Connell play we’re desperate for at least two Props on the bench. I’d move Mellor or Brierley to 6 as they are the only two players we have capable in that position. Hankinson was very solid at full back. In attack Ryan looks average although his defensive reads are brilliant at times. Glad we’ve two weeks off now. The crowd was a joke yesterday no idea what more the club can do.

Strange feeling - winning by 30 points and not being very excited by the game. I think Rowley summed it up well. Good in patches but no consistency.

Easier said than done but we need to make it more of an event. It felt really dead yesterday. Props— we need to through the kitchen sink at Lewis beinek he smashed are pack. And let’s hope Lewis plays well especially without big jack

Yes last two matches, v strange, no atmosphere
Match days possibly Sunday when we need to get out and get some air….Feb March April Friday night in the warmer months May June July August September, when we’d rather be in the garden or in open spaces
Also how about Family events, BBQ days etc

Am bored so thought I'd do a player review. Boring match as well tbh
Hank- Ran hard and defended well, but we lack so much in attack without brierley as that pivot.
Cross-solid but not spectacular
Lafai= MoM for me, terrified them and floored that bienek with a monster tackle ,superb.
Macdonald- played well and once played was focused on lafai as key attacking threat in 2nd half, he followed him a few times for offloads and scored off one
Ryan- Poor, missed lots of tackles and didn't really offer much going forward.
Atkin- same as cust in that he offers nothing as a running threat at SO. Is definitely a bench player to come on, as as when he starts he shows his defiencies
Sneyd- played well and bar the 40/20 that went wayward, kicked them all over the park. Defence again was suss at times, but fo not support from inside man (Stone)
Singleton: Does enough, but rarely sets the world on fire. Just physically looks the wrong shape for a modern day prop
Shorrocks: it isn't a coincidence that we struggle to get going until mellor comes on after 20 mons. Just isn't a hooker. He can throw a nice pass but doesn't go forward. Much more effective at loose.
Wright: Again, just isn't a prop. He runs nices lines (As you would expect for 2nd row) but always seems to be pulling people back when tacking instead of hitting them head on and stopping them. Needs moving back to 2nd row whenever we get the numbers back.
Stone- Poor again. He got ran over twice in the 1st half and sat on his backside. Scored an okay try though but just floats about and doesn't offer enough penetration going forward or enough defensive stability next to sneyd. Another who lets a player past him before tackling. Hit him front on man!
Watkins- played well, ran some good lines and hit players hard defensively. Still class at 33 and lovely balence
Partington Far from his best game and got bullied about a bit.
Dudson- definitely fronts up and adds a bit of grunt to us defensively and go forward
Melllor- 2nd game in a row hes come on and made a big impact. Starting to see his quality now and really moves us forward
Foster- Did okay, nothing special bit needs a run of games
Connell- thought the young man did we for his 20 min cameo and didn't looks overawed. Did some nice tackles and took it in a couple of times. Needs to go out on loan now and build up his game time in championship if possible
Overall a wins a win, but defensively we were all over the shop. Every time the ball moved wide either through looped pass or even just through hands there was an overlap. Any decent team would have licked us I think, as we just don't slide defensively and this pincer move with wingers rushing in is getting found out and even against a London team with zero pace outside it showed huge problems. Needs sorting urgently as not good enough

Fair assessment I thought but I think the game plan was to contain, then when they were tired to play an expansive game…which worked. In that context I think perhaps a bit unfair on Shorrocks, and Partington, both good in defence
Yes not an exciting match but London also came to contain, which they did for 40 minutes
Spine for me at the moment should be: Briefly, Hankinson, Sneyd, Shorrocks/then Mellor
We don’t have the skill/ speed/ size at the moment….this year to me is survival after5 internationals going last year and now a crop of bad injuries. We desperately need cash for size and speed …but don’t sell Sneyd and Lafai to generate it

He usually is but just went missing a bit for me for some reason. Shorrocks I again appreciate he's filling in and defends and passes well, but hasn't got the acceleration or mindset to take us forward from the acting half postion. Hopefully Amir back next match should see him revert to his normal position

Think my team would be
Brierley Cross Lafai McDonald Ryan Hankinson Sneyd Dudson Bouroh/ Cust Singleton Stone Watkins Partington
King V, Wright, Mellor, Shorrocks
( Brierley, Hankinson interchangeable, Lewis coming in for King V at some time, Atkin have a rest..he’s a 7 9 or later game 13 not a 6, )

Why about Shorrocks as a 6? I’m sure he played there for Leigh/Wigan last year and was decent? Might have been against Saints?
I like Atkin but he’s better as the one changing the game off the bench
