I am very saddened to read that the great Ken Gill has died aged 76. He is the best stand off half I have ever seen in a Salford jersey. A genius with ball in hand and able to time a pass better than any other I have seen.
He is stand off half in my best ever Salford team.
My thoughts and sympathy go out to his family and friends. RIP Ken.

Heartbroken- my absolute hero ! Says something when in recent times we have had Croft and Hastings at half back and Neil Baker and Paul Shaw prior to that. This man was every bit as good as them -in my opinion he was better but that's just my view

Yes he and Baker were two of the best ever stand offs to grace a Salford shirt inc Croft. Russ posted a GB v Aus match in which Kenny and a number of others played…might be worth resurrecting for the younger viewers…amazing skills with ball in hand

The greatest player I have ever seen. His deception with the ball in hand was amazing. The number of times I thought he had the ball only to realise that he had already passed it on to a colleague who was strolling over for a try was uncountable.

Was before my time, so can't comment on ability. For my generation, it was Paul Shaw who was magic.

What an absolute star, great memories watching Kenny from The Shed as a twelve year old. Probably the best stand-off ever (only the Widnes & Saints thuggery could stop him-today he'd run amok) he made that team.
Thank you Kenny,

This is a nice tribute from the club and well deserved and it reminded me of Cliff Evans a great coach And maybe this is the right place for a mention of Keith Hepworth another terrific player who passed recently.
