Local journal Declan Carey has been tweeting from the Salford Council Chamber on the Conservative motion to stop the purchase of the stadium going through. What with the considerable Labour majority in the chamber, it was defeated. Whether that means they are any further down the line to completion though is another matter with Cllr Jack Youd saying the purchase is taking considerable time because the plan is very detailed with due diligence taking place at every stage (i.e. lawyers involved). Well worth a look at Carey’s commentary.

Well, the motion didn't pass. Labour voted it into oblivion. Thankfully. Hopefully, this will now mean that the sale will go through at more than a snails pace...

I’m not happy about this due diligence excuse it’s taken far too long already. Even a small team of lawyers could put this to bed in a matter of weeks. I think I’d heard (possibly on here) that Peel hadn’t even agree a valuation yet and were still trying to screw further money out of the Council.
