That pass from Lafai was so filthy they'll be teenage boys excited to find magazine images of it the park bushes.

As long as we play our game out on that pitch we can beat anybody , we kept our composure settled down and instead of trying to score of every tackle we took our time and the tries came our way Defensively was much better in the 2nd half closed them down more and started blocking those offloads

Yeah we tried to be too expansive, but then when we played normal game against them we found the spaces

Well that was a hard watch on sky - well done & I am so jealous of the fans who went. We gave away a few stupid penalties & 6 agains, Ref seemed to penalise us more than Saints. Big credit to the players never gave up - taken 44 years to sort the Saints out at their place 👏👏👏
Need a big crowd next Thursday - hoping to bring a couple of extra fans

Only down side Cust Failed HIA, so will miss next game. I thought we actually looked better with Atkin at 6. He's less aggressive defensively, which helped. He also shifted the ball better to the centre and winger and kept his defender honest. Cust often seem to want to run the ball in like he's a LF. I actually think he'd be better at hooker. If Atkin plays as well at 6 next week. I'd consider keeping him there and playig Cust as a rotational hooker. He loves to get stuck in. It's a shame he isn't bigger as I think he's made a really good LF. That said, maybe Morgan gets a shot at 6. I can't see it but he is a half back.

Can possibly see Brierley playing a split 1/6 game next week, where he would be 6 in attack but 1 in defence. If fit playing Ryan at full back an option with keeping Atkin in his utility bench option.

Rollercoaster of a game.
We were far from perfect but what was telling for me is the dogged determination of this team. They seem to thrive on that adversity and I've been very impressed with how we've matured as a team this year. We've been flashy with the ball the last few seasons but we were always slightly one dimensional when it didn't work. Now we seem to be able to adapt much better and be more fluid with the changes each game can have in real time. I don't know if that's down to savvy coaching, different players and new roles, or the players themselves. Probably a bit of all three. The one thing you can't coach, team spirit, is in abundance. Something that this coaching team seem to be masters at nurturing.
What a feeling to get that 44 year monkey off our backs. Still can't quite believe it.

Not sure how to summarise that game. Hope that Knowles gets a ban for his elbow to the head in the tackle on Cust and Percival was a straight Red. Looked like Bourouh and Shorrocks had knocks at the end but perhaps it was sheer effort.
Two of the Saints tries were preventable, Cust shot out the line and Watkins slipped when Percival scored, apart from that overall our defence was pretty solid against a team with a bigger pack.
In attack the first 20 mins of the 2nd half we were awful, I was willing Rowley onto the side line to tell them to calm down, we did not build pressure then somehow common sense prevailed and we settled down. If Lafai had passed the ball more to Cross we'd have scored more tries and won comfortably. I thought Sneyd was outstanding with this passing and kicking moving us forward. Atkin was quiet until he delivered that piece of magic to score under the sticks which turned the game, he needs to run more at 6, he is quick off the mark, has a step and the talent to create. Also a mention for Deon Cross who took his tries well and had his best game for a sometime. Shorrocks again worked tirelessly and what a tackle on Walmsley near the end, he is some player. Perhaps the biggest plus last night was the team spirit, our players did not give in and gave everything until the end.
I really hope we get a great crowd in on Thursday v Wigan, the boys deserve it after last night. Just hope the injuries are minimal, we know Cust will miss Wigan.

What a difference the Video Ref at each game makes…apparently it was Grifiths who called the sending off

A fantastic win, difficult to call out individuals as this was a team effort, but for me Cross was outstanding and again Sneyd running the show. I do agree with the comments on Lafai also, he broke 2-3 times and just needs more support and to pass. Well done Salford excellent effort.
