What happened with that experiment, have we given up on that now?

Died a death, not interested in standing between rows of seats, being a clumsy oaf I'm likely to go base over apex.
I actually quite like the South stand so nothing to be gained for me and besides the East stand is to shallow so the view isn't that great anyway.

I'm a South Stander too. I like where I stand, but nothing compares to being in The Shed at The Willows.

There was a lot of sentiment in standing in the Shed, for many it was because all we know. The reality was that when a ball hit the roof you stood a chance of being blinded by the rust that fell down, you needed to pee into a piece of guttering dug into corncrete and I do remember once having to move as part of the roof/speaker started to fall in when there was the merest zephyr of wind.
That said I did nearly get killed by a low flying cash register and a millions pints of sludge at Barton one day.
Ahhh happy memories.

Heading back the The East Stand, I really do not enjoy watching Rugby League from behind the sticks.

I was probably a liiiiittle biiit drunk on Saturday, but I thought the atmosphere was decent in the south stand. Obviously winning helps, long may it continue. Certainly improved on the catalans game where it was pretty woeful.

That Catalan game for me was one that got away. There were far to many errors to get a roll on, so the fans didn't get a buzz going. Since then Catalan seem to be much stronger, it will be a big task next week.

The thing with the East stand was that it was also used as the community stand on most of the games so you had young children with there parents mixed with fans trying to generate an atmosphere, so it never got off the ground. Speaking of ground, all the stands are too shallow.. massive design flaw with our stadium. Look at Warrington and Leigh, that's how it should be done.

It was originally designed in a way that it could easily be extended should the crowds increase. Phase 1 was as it currently is. Phase 2 involved expanding to 15,000 and phase 3 to 20,000 where it would look like this

South Stand must be one of the worst viewing stands in the whole of UK Rugby League, it's terrible. I'll never know why fans pay to stand in there (apart from the fact that it's the cheapest part of the ground) as you cant see absolutely anything when the play is in the other half of the pitch. As said before, unlike the North Stand at the Willows which was fairly deep the South is so shallow.
Fair enough if you're OK paying to watch a game when the play is only in the half of the pitch closest to the South, but it certainly isn't for me.

I've always stood in the South Stand and it's nothing to do with cost; it's more to do with being able to stand up rather than having to sit down. Plus, I've got a bladder the size of a walnut, so if I sat down I'd just annoy everyone around me when I get up for the toilet 3 times each half!

I can honestly never see that stadium being expanded. For either League or Yawnion purposes. The only way that it will get bigger is if a football team plays there will regular sellouts.
Your stuck between a rock and a hard place. The South Stand is the best for atmosphere and obviously is the only place you can legally stand in the ground, but the West offers the best view of the game. FWIW i'm in the South Stand and must admit you cant see any of the game from the 40 onwards but I much prefer the atmosphere in the SS.
