Salford have lost their identity according to a sacked former coach!
Well he'll have no ulterior motive for saying that will he?
I wouldn't normally post another thread so quickly but why him, why now? Are any more going to crawl out of the woodwork to have a pop?
I know what he said is pretty harmless but I can't get away from the timing and the person involved!

If I'm not mistaken I think Russ maybe referring to a Mr Iestyn Harris? Pretty sure he spoke along those lines last week on BBC radio when discussing the new stadium.

I was wondering if Noble might have cropped up somewhere, he has a point but we also now have a rather nice modern stadium, not a memory riddled rust bucket. You can't unfortunately have both in modern sport, I know what I'd rather SL at Barton or death at the Willows.

The only identity we have the chance of losing is that of a Yo-Yo Club, where knackered players go for a pension and the only people who turn up are complete masochists...
Not such a bad thing to lose to be honest, if we try really hard. What we really lost was a little piece of our history and memories, and we still hold them in our hearts and minds.
We haven't lost our identity, we're trying to change it...

Well I haven't lost my identity nor have I misplaced those things that I identify with the club, have you? I just thought we don't need this rubbish at the moment and it might be as well if they asked somebody without an axe to grind! The next thing'll be Rangi's thoughts on player welfare at the club, or Tony P's ideas on contracts and trust! As I said harmless in itself but I just feel under siege at the moment and don't need things like this being said on top of it all! |
