Another way of looking at it, russ, is that for once we haven't been raided by opposition teams for us to rebuild as usual. The signings we're making are definitely strengthening our weak spots. We already have proper stars in our team in key areas so I'm not expecting anything from the signings this off season. What I'm seeing is good recruitment in key areas. We maybe need to get used to this in the coming seasons, and I'm much happier it be this way than how it normally goes. Admittedly, it may not be overly exciting to some but for me we've signed decently this off season so far. And of course that's what makes forums so brilliant when someone offers a different light on the subject rather than quibbling about how we disagree!

Agree C…my only concern is the age of a number of our top players The biggest give away that anyone is an SRD fan, for my money is that, even when the picture is rosy for a change, you find something to worry you!

I'd have agreed with you a few years back but with the relative success of the Watson/Rowley tenures I've found myself having a lot more optimistic outlook than I used to. I'm confident that the club is in a good place considering our obvious limitations with finances etc and we've got some fantastic people at the club. I've got nothing but positive expectations for next season and I'm excited to see how we evolve over the next few years when Haggerty takes over, Rowls moves upstairs and some of the senior players hang up their boots. It's going to be a massive task to rebuild but I think we've got the right men for the job and hopefully increased income streams will make that transition a bit smoother.

Agree Chief, Rowley and Haggerty have amassed a good squad and seemingly building some future now by bringing in young blood…which when developed hopefully won’t fly the nest. I think we’ll miss Bleasy a bit pulling off the likes Hastings Croft Lussick from nowhere ….but Rowley in a new role might do the trick. From the IMG point of view it’s a good job they had the coaching staff to get us up to 4th this year
Looks like we can’t afford the likes of Byrne, if in fact he’s leaving Wigan but a good base for next season…but as you say it seems all about funds now so we’ll have to wait and see what develops ……but, yes the big positive is that we have the playing staff and structure

Some very good signings done already, I wonder what the starting line up will be next season. Both SARL and LoveRL have made suggestions for this and the didn't agree and it was interesting who they left out or forgot about.
But whatever you do don't ask about Sangare!
