I don’t think anybody is saying we lost the match because of the ref…but in SL there seems to me a couple of problems with
- field kicks and refs (with touch judges) need to police this much better…last week against Leeds and this against Saints lots of kicks made and players in offside positions allowed to play on. In fact Kendall wanted to disallow a try for a knock on yet the Saints centre was proven to be 5 yards off
- ptb and offside…Saints and KR ( who’s coach says they copied Saints) have perfected this by being off on the blind side of the ref
Potential Solution…Linesmen should police better or as in RU the Vid Ref continually polices this….which does work well

Can we stop this "So and so lost us the game" sh*t. We win as a team and we lose as a team. Did Partington lose us the game for getting involved and getting sinbinned when could have had a 2 man advantage fwith 10 mins to go? Nope. Did Sneyd lose us the game by taking the 2 rather than kicking to the corner before half time when we were in ascendancy? Probabaly not. its a game of fine margins as we all know. This was essentially an excellent performance, after a short turnaround, away from home at a place we have barely won at all over the last half a century. The players are honest enough with themselves to know what they could have done differently. They will all be pretty sore this morning after taking on and matching a powerful pack of forwards and could proabably do without finger pointing from us.

The focus on the ref is interesting but the media coverage is fascinating too. Naturally enough the main theme is Saints as winners and only LRL has a look at the discipline in the match. It does so in a bit of an odd way. The main idea is that much of what happened was avoidable which is true but this also puts Shorrocks' ten minutes in the same category as Knowles' and Batchelor's and they are hardly comparable infringements ..... and having the same punishment can't make them the same. One of them needed a red card but that was as unlikely as Sneyd missing a goal kick or maybe even less so!
I also think Saints deliberately went for the anger, disruption route in a very obvious, strategic and successful way ..... shades of Tommy Radonikis!

Some love in going on if that saints fb won the MoM. He didn't do anything except for a small break at the end.
At one point he dropped a bomb and the commentary said he's done well there. Wtf??

Knowles tackle had clear intent and should have been a red.Blake should have been binned prior to the 3 at the end so Saints should have been down to 10.
Yes we made some poor choices the first half drop goal option and actually not sure whether Hankinson,or Cross were at fault, or a bit of both, particularly as it was tackle 2 or 3,for the bombed try.
Probably the last plays, for their drop, are an indication of fatigue playing against a much bigger side for 80+ minutes.
In all honesty we need our 1st 13 on the pitch in these big games to give us the edge.
As soon as one of our centre's is missing then it takes the pressure of the opponents on that side of the pitch
Great,competitive performance and to keep coming back was creditable.

It's not nice to loose any game especially to a golden point
We should have won could have won but didn't that's the way the mop flops in sport
I am not blaming the referee
but some of the decisions I am still trying to work out how he arrived at
I will leave it to others to tell us what we should or shouldn't have done
Onwards and upwards and hope for better next week.

No, the ref is not to blame. He is not a ref I want officiating our games: odd, pedantic and inexplicable at times.
During the match I became a bit obsessed with the ruck there was alot of messing about particularly by one of those paragons from the NRL.

I am personally astonished that we almost won. I had expected that the lads would have been emotionally and physically drained from the Leeds win.
I missed the first half as I’d prebooked to listen to Russ Jones and Terry Christian at Waterstones in Mcr. But I have re watched today.
My thoughts.
🏉 How resilient is this team? Five days after Leeds and able to come back.
🏉 Golden point is erm pointless.
🏉 More than worrying that in three games v St Helens in the last 2 years, they have inflicted some serious shithouse thuggery and Kendal has brushed them aside. Each made a difference to the result.
🏉Knowles’s lung was a red. Clearly for some neurological damage is just a made up conspiracy or ‘part of the game’
🏉St Helens are just a team of thugs when the chips are down. 🏉Unlucky defeat, but I think this side can beat anyone. Nah serious.
Down with fascists, Up the Reds. 🫲👹✊

As for Saints I posted about how much it reminded me of the days Tommy Radonikis a real blast from a past everyone says is long gone!
