I've watched the tries we conceded back a few times and I don't blame Stone for any of them. I blame penalties for giving them position for their first try. Another try came after giving up possession by attempting an offload in a ridiculous situation. Our middles became too compressed following the ball to our left for Percival's try. And their last try came on the back of us giving up loads of yardage and then possession in our half.again. Giving up easy field position is usually the reason for conceding. Not many tries are scored from 40+ metres. Rowley, yet again, was spot on with his assessment. Lots of praise for all the things we did well but noting that we lacked composure for a period (after the red card, for 15 minutes) and polish at times. If we can tidy up we'll be very hard to beat because of the work ethic and togetherness the team has, sprinkled with a little bit of high quality. I know I'm looking at a negative after a win, believe me I am still pinching myself with the win . However, the percival try I can kind of understand your point about compression and maybe he as the nearest body to it and attempting stood out for the miss. The Dodds try though, he's just ball watching and counted it wrong. So that's on him. As I said it's an amazing win and I loved the emotion of the match as was so up and down. But for me he was our least effective player yesterday. But he's had a good start to the season and hopefully can step up again as I thought he was getting better towards the end of last season after a slow start.

I think the issue with Brierley is that he is not a natural full back…he’s a converted half back…so he’s learning the position all the time
His goal line defence on the edge is getting better because now he’s now sometimes getting the winger, his catching is good but it’s anticipation…he’s moving across the back following the ball ….if you look at the Percival try he seemed to watch it all and move too late.
Still he didn’t come as a super star and is getting better…hopefully he’ll gel with the new spine now on attack
Great to whinge after a win🤣

I am happy for him to make a few metres. However our revered leader Rowls wants a pivot at 1 and I assume the coach see's more value in him as the extra pivot than as a metre maker. Ryan has not been that effective in attack the first few games, he has been too wide at time but it is early days, he did put a nice pass on for Cross first try last night. We have a new spine and Shorrocks distribution means his playing wider in the line, this will sort itself out. I think last season his attack was fantastic but best of all he learned how to defend better. Watkins slipped on the Percival try, that cannot be put on Brierley. Our new wingers will again changes Brierleys dynamic hopefully for the better.

You can't use the excuse that Brierley has only played FB for part of his career. He spent plenty of time there at Leigh and with us for 3 years. To be fair he was far better last year with his positioning that the year before. He continues to get better. He still has lapses with positioning, like Saints's third try where he should have been across better. But, he's made loads of improvements under Rowley. He's a great player for us. Loves the club. Speaks well. His last line of defence has been great and he's solid under the high ball. Very good going forward. I just wish that when he caught the ball he'd go north. He's quick and should be getting upfield as fast as possible. Get between two defenders, land on his front and fight to play the ball. Then the winger goes from acting half. It's a small thing but it's huge in terms of momentum and where you kick the ball from.
I've just watched the game back and I'm still annoyed at Stone going at Walmsley at the end. I love the passion but don't risk a daft penalty. Also, if we cut out errors we stop three of those Saints tries.
Try 1) Cust overplayed with no chance of a try from 15m out - scrum and try. Try 3) Ridiculous offload from Watkins two tackles after an equally stupid offload from Hankison - concede possession inside thee 20 again and conceded a try Try 4) Overplaying from the scrum. No way we go length of he field there. No need for that play. Okay, the call was wrong, but we don't need to do it - give up possession within the 20 again and Saints score.
For the second try, Cust was too aggressivez rush out and tried to tackle a prop up high without being able to set his feet. If he doesn't rush out, he's able to set his feet, plant his body, and tackle low.
Obviously, I'm being super critical and micro-analysing, but my phone is that it we don't give away easy field position inside our own half then we probably hold Saints to one try, unless they go from distance. That's brilliant from us and a big pat on the back to our defence. It also shows what we need to fix up for Thursday because we don't want to o give Wigan that field position.

John Stankevitch I just thought I'd put this ne'erdowell on here as he seems to fit in with all the moaning after a great win/comeback.
"What a total and utter embarrassment @therfl. Just can’t believe what I’m watching anymore. Wow. We can’t just stay silent anymore surely.”

We all know what's going to be a red and the clubs knew before the season started. On current rules that's a stone cold red card. The one I have issue with this year is the Brown one, which they've rectified in the wording now. I also think some of the ban lengths have been OTT. Pele getting 3 games and Watts getting 4 was a joke. But, you can't argue with the red.

What's our top 3 out of that lot? I'd go... 1) Wigan 2) Cats 3) Hudds (play-offs) Obviously Wigan has to be #1 due to the enormity of the game but Catalans was just bonkers. I was gutted to have missed being at the 2019 game where we won 46-0 but having Catalans fans applauding us after the game in '22 and coming over to shake our hands was special. Especially after the regular spankings we've had at the SGB!

Good to the Club, Rowley et al, noticed the head hit on Cust…as Rowley said ‘pity he didn’t stay down as it might have been picked up’ And good to see Video Refs properly watching for foul play and other offences…developing well Big improvement Video Ref at each game…cuts out the necessary guessing sometimes Good to see a ref who will make a decision against a so called big team good on him Exactly this, Kendall take note! Missed the second half due to travelling but saw the highlights this morning, saints fans dont half moan. We been done over at saints more than one occasion so was nice to see decisions go our way for once. Saying that though i thought Walmsley should of been sin binned in the first half taking out Brierley surely. Never a forward pass that led to their try in the second half as well. Sending off was harsh but correct. Saw on our social media the fans reaction at the hooter, wish i was there. x.com/SalfordDevils/status/1766494159815455138?s=20

Any other reaction just illustrates how fans expect their team to get away with stuff rather than face the consequences.
As for Wellens "so long as it's a sending off net week" what a load of BS that is.
It was nice to see a ref with courage to act for a change.
