300k in cashflow and 300k off the salary cap fills the cash flow gap.

This is a good deal and works for Salford.

The two sides of this coin are fascinating
The idea that players come and go which they do and that there are players out there which there are.
Before Watto we had sides that were almost always sure to get hammered a fair number of times in a season, during Watto's tenure we had a side that worked on structures and ways of working that meant we competed at least some of the time, right now we have a side that worries us less than it has for a long long time when it takes the field. That took a very long time. When you lose players replacing them is easy in some cases and very hard in others. If there are players out there Leeds or any other side wouldn't offer so much money to sign them. We have been very lucky recently with Jackson and Brodie.
Are there really quality players that will provide a competitive unit week in week out?

Yes Russ, New South Wales Cup Team of the year for starters;
1 Isaiah Iongi (Penrith Panthers) 2 Clayton Faulalo (Blacktown Workers Sea Eagles) 3 Kayal Iro (Newtown Jets) 4 Ali Leiataua (One New Zealand Warriors) 5 Fetalaiga Pauga (North Sydney Bears) 6 Jesse Marschke (North Sydney Bears) 7 Dean Hawkins (South Sydney Rabbitohs) 8 Liam Henry (Penrith Panthers) 9 Peter Mamouzelos (South Sydney Rabbitohs) 10 Trey Mooney (Canberra Raiders) 11 Clay Webb (Canberra Raiders) 12 Kalani Going (One New Zealand Warriors) 13 Zach Dockar-Clay (North Sydney Bears)

One thing's for sure, Russ, it feels like Salford Red Devils are basically the other clubs talent finders. Why pay for scouts when you can let Ian Blease unearth them and steal them over after a season?
Certainly feels that way anyway.

Which is why I think it’s going to be harder than you think to replace Croft. Not replacing him full stop but doing it for next season with little time

We’ve raised approx £500K in player transfers in the last 3 months. I’d hate to imagine where we would be without that. The stadium needs sorting now. It’s becoming a burden. The fact they having recouped the 22% from sales worries me. Either the contractor is in breach of contract or we’ve been very naive (I feel annoyed that the £1 of that awful lager I’ve been drinking hasn’t gone to the club!).

The gem that makes the difference and you'd only have to look at the history of ru players in RL there a huge number that never made it for every David Watkins, Mike Coulman or Colin Dixon.
With NRL players it tends to be better odds but for every Jackson there's a Moon!

I think you could've found a better anti-Jacko than Moon there Russ.
Foran would've been a far better example.🙂

I agree that Foran was a flop (so was his mate whose name I forget), but he turned up and pulled the shirt on at a time when we barely had 13 open-age players. Yes he was unfit and not much cop, but I am still grateful that he gave us an extra body at a time when we desperately needed one.

There are worse examples true, but Moonlight flit shouldn't be let off the hook!

Maybe we should have a thread of an SRD let downs, ne'erdowells and reprobates; we must have one for every position, surely?

I don’t think anyone’s suprised the sale of Croft is happening,it’s more how people got involved in the share scheme and we’re told we’re not a selling club anymore after the money raised, just don’t make statements like that because it comes back to bite you when you lose Dupree and Croft I think that’s the main thing from this.
